OVERTURE: SOUTH BANK CENTRE

Multi-screen audio-visual piece celebrating the history and cultural significance of London’s most famous concert hall projected onto its exterior for its re-opening

This commissioned multi-screen audio-visual piece was created to celebrate the re-opening of the Royal Festival Hall, as part of the Overture weekend at the Southbank Centre in London on the 8th & 9th June 2007.

Projected across the south side of the Royal Festival hall on two consecutive nights, this 4 channel, 15 minute audio-visual piece told the story of the building, its design and construction after the Festival Of Britain. It reflected on the countless musical legends who have performed there and the cultural diversity of the millions of people who use it.

It was a great honor to be invited to create this work and the production brought together a diverse group of film, animation and musical talents, using archive film and photography from the buildings history to celebrate this iconic building at the heart of London’s cultural landscape.
