Our next museum commission is south of the river for the National Maritime Museum. TLS is producing all of the audio visual content for the new gallery entrance ‘Voyagers: Britons and the sea’, a permanent introduction to the whole museum that has been designed by Real Studios.
This space will sit at the heart of the new Sami Ofer Wing. The gallery’s aim is to demonstrate how the collections of the museum can illustrate the vibrancy, diversity and contemporary significance of maritime histories and the personal stories that have been created by our relationship with the sea.
The space involves a complex piece of projection mapping across a giant wave structure with a Puffersphere globe projection at one end. To take on this difficult structure we have been developing bespoke software in collaboration with media artist James George from New York studio Flightphase.
Test renders of ocean as text created in openFrameworks. More development still and footage will be added here soon so stay tuned..
Completed installation and exhibition space will be open to the public from July 14th 2011..
